I’m Veronica, the director of digital news at Gothamist. My team powers Gothamist’s newsletters, social media, visuals and breaking news.
Every day, our team at Gothamist works hard to bring you the local news you need. Whether it’s a guide to the best Puerto Rican food in the Bronx, continued coverage of skyrocketing housing costs or daily breaking news, our newsroom is dedicated to keeping you informed and connected to New York City.
News outlets (especially local ones) are facing serious challenges. Some are declaring bankruptcy, getting swallowed up by private equity firms or, worse, shutting down altogether. We need your donation to help us watch those in power. We live here, too, and our newsroom is devoted to making this wonderful, frustrating, vibrant region work for our neighbors and everyone who lives here. Our newsroom motto is that we help make New York work for New Yorkers.
Here’s the Deal:
In order to hit our financial goals for the year, we need 529 more donors before June 30th. Yes, as in tomorrow.
When you give to Gothamist, you’re helping us hire and retain the best journalists. You’re giving them the ability to report on stories that make you think, scream and laugh, sometimes at the same time. You’re supporting local arts & culture coverage, keeping an eye on those in power within City Hall, helping uncover local corruption and much, much more.
Unlike other news websites, we don’t charge people to read our articles. We count on readers like you to help keep us going – and to help cover the costs for your neighbors who can’t afford to give. Your contribution helps us continue to tell the stories that matter.
For the next few days, we’re including this amazing t-shirt with all donations of $25 and above. Help save local news AND get a cool t-shirt? This is a no-brainer.
