Warners' Michael De Luca, Pamela Abdy to Lead TCM ►Zaslav attempts to calm the TCM waters. THR's Kim Masters and Aaron Couch have the scoop on Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav moving oversight of Turner Classic Movies to Warner Bros. Pictures bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. The move is meant to reassure the film community after WBD announced a restructuring this week that saw TCM chief Pola Changnon exit after 25 years, along with key team members. The story. —Overwhelming support. Directors Guild of America members have voted to ratify the agreement that union negotiators struck with studios and streamers in early June. Eighty-seven percent of the union voted in support of the deal, while 13 percent voted against it. The union framed this as a turnout level that "exceeded any prior DGA ratification vote." The story. —Removal is the word. Paramount+ has canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies after a single season, reversed its decision on a season-two pickup for the animated and kids-focused Star Trek: Prodigy, axed competition series Queen of the Universe after two seasons, and nixed a revival of The Game after two seasons. Additionally, all four shows will be removed from Paramount+ as the conglomerate joins Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery in taking tax write-offs for underperforming series. The news comes as Paramount+ will incorporate Showtime into the platform in the U.S. on Tuesday. The story. —Prosecutors face continued setbacks. The former armorer for Rust — charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of the movie’s cinematographer on the set — is looking at a new charge of evidence tampering for allegedly offering narcotics to escape prosecution. The special prosecutors overseeing the case alleged in a Santa Fe County court filing that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed "did transfer narcotics to another person with the intent to prevent the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of herself."
